Israel Cordero is the CEO at Lonestar Educational Consulting where he supports pk-16 leaders in developing practical and innovative solutions that support student achievement. Israel is an experienced district leader that served as Dallas ISD’s Deputy Superintendent for Academic Improvement & Accountability for the 2017-2018 school year. He served the Dallas ISD for 21 years. Israel began his career in education as a teacher at W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas ISD in 1998. He went on to serve in various roles, including Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal, High School Principal, Executive Director, Assistant Superintendent, Deputy Chief of School Leadership, and Chief of Strategic Initiatives and External Relations. As a collegiately trained educator from Southern Methodist University, Israel is an exemplar educator with over 20 years of experience in education, including school leadership at the campus and central office level. He is highly regarded for his delivery of professional learning, project management and fiscal operations. He was most recently responsible for being the second-in-command of the 10th largest school system in the United States. He led the design and implementation of 22 Early College High Schools in three years and recruited more than 80 industry partners to the school district. Cordero also led the implementation of the district’s theory of action, Managed Instruction with Earned Empowerment and created a 176 page playbook to operationalize the Theory of Action and School Performance Framework. Israel Cordero was the district’s External Relations point person for all district matters, including government relations. All academics, curriculum and support to schools reported to Israel Cordero. He has received a number of accolades and recognitions. In 2009 he was a Dallas Morning News Finalist for Texan of the year; in 2011 he received the SMU Simmons Luminary Award for Excellence in Education; and in 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2017 he received the University of Texas Nolan Estes Leadership Ascension Award for Excellence in American Educational Leadership. Israel is a K-12 Texas certified teacher and district leader. He received his bachelor’s degree is in English from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where he set many track and field records on both the state and national levels. He obtained his master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Israel has completed all of his coursework for his doctorate in Educational Administration with a 3.9 grade point average and is currently working on his dissertation at the University of Texas in Austin. He has his Superintendency Certification. Israel is married to Christina Cordero. They have 3 children

together, Sebastian, 14; Isabel, 9; and Liliana, 2.
